Three local concerts of note the week of April 12, 2010.
On Wednesday evening, students from the Suzuki Royal Oak Institute of Music will be holding a “bon voyage” concert at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills. This concert is a final dress rehearsal, if you will, before the string group performs at Carnegie Hall on Monday, April 19th. Admission is free. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, the Community Orchestra of the Orchard Lake Philharmonic Society performs at the Smith Theater on the Orchard Ridge Campus of Oakland Community College (I-696 and Orchard Lake Road). The program includes works by Brahms, Respighi, Faure, Haydn, and Beethoven. Tickets are $10 at the door, and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Look for me in the third chair of the first violins – desperately trying to keep up!
Then on Sunday, students from the Interlochen Academy will be holding a recital at the Steinway Gallery in Commerce Township (Maple Road and M-5). This 7:30 p.m. concert is also free.
